Willie R. Sparks

  Willie R. Sparks, age 81, of Beaver, Ohio, died Monday February 12, 2018 at the SOMC Hospice Center in Portsmouth, Ohio. He was born September 3, 1936 in Stricklett, Kentucky, a son of the late John and Lora Carver Sparks. Mr. Sparks was united in marriage June 11, 2005 to his wife, Joyce Wise Williams Sparks, who survives. Also surviving are one son, Craig (Tina) Sparks of Colorado Springs, Colorado, one daughter, Regina (Danny) Fisher of Colorado Springs, Colorado, one step-son, Joe (Brenda) Williams of Lawrenceville, Ohio, one step-daughter, Anita (Brian) Moon of Beaver, Ohio, several grandchildren, two brothers, Jay (Carolyn) Sparks of Jackson, Ohio and Harold (Juana) Sparks of Dover, Delaware, five sisters, Jean Hatten of Jackson, Ohio, Pauline Fraley of Jackson, Ohio, Linda (Les) Daniels of Chillicothe, Ohio, Nancy (Bill) Clements of Chillicothe, Ohio and Susie Martin of Beaver, Ohio, a special nephew, Jeff Hatten of Jackson, Ohio and a brother-in-law, Roger Karr of Chillicothe, Ohio. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Carrie Sparks, one son, John Sparks, and one sister, Debbie Karr. Mr. Sparks graduated from Jackson High School in 1956 and was a U.S. Army Veteran, retiring from the Army with 30 years of service. Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Friday February 16, 2018 at the Cox Burkitt Funeral Home in Beaver, Ohio with Pastor Chris Clark officiating and military services conducted by the American Legion Merritt Post #142 of Waverly. Burial will be held at a later date in the Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver, Colorado. Friends may call from 6-8:00 P.M. Thursday February 15, 2018 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the SOMC Hospice Center, 2201 25^th St., Portsmouth, Ohio 45662.
