Virgie Lee Yates Maurer

Virgie Lee Yates Maurer, age 71, of Rainbow Trail Rd., Waverly, Ohio, went home to be with our lord Friday November 16, 2012. She was born January 9, 1941 in Portsmouth, Ohio, a daughter of the late Samuel and Ethel McDowell Smith. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Russell Yates Sr. and also her second husband, Robert Maurer. Surviving are one son, Russell Yates Jr. of Piketon, Ohio, three daughters, Virginia (David) White of Greenfield, Ohio, Cindy Yates of Waverly, Ohio, and Sharon (William Jr.) Pendleton of Peebles, Ohio, 14 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and a special niece and caregiver, Patti Wiseman of Waverly, Ohio. In addition to her parents and late husbands, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Joyce Ann Bowens, a grandson, Russell Carl Yates III, two brothers, James and Bruce Smith, and five sisters, Ada Mae Perkins, Bessie Lyons, Hazel Borders, Wilma Blair, and her twin sister Violet Hettinger. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Tuesday November 20, 2012 at the Mt. Holy Church located on Rainbow Trail Rd., with Bro. Alphie VanHoy officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Etna Cemetery. Friends may call from 12 noon until the time of service Tuesday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of the Cox Burkitt Funeral Home in Beaver, Ohio.
