Ronald D. "Crabby" Crabtree

Ronald D. “Crabby” Crabtree, age 77, of Waverly, Ohio, died Sunday May 18, 2025 at his residence. He was born September 7, 1947 in Portsmouth, Ohio, a son of the late Lloyd H. Crabtree and Evelyn Delay Crabtree. He was united in marriage May 13, 1969 to his wife, Pamela Sue Peters Crabtree, who preceded him in death March 20, 2019. Surviving are his children, Catrina L. Crabtree of Waverly, Ohio, Lloyd H. “Buster” (Angela) Crabtree of Waverly, Ohio, Jody B. (Tonya) Crabtree of West Portsmouth, Ohio, and Josie E (Ronald Dale) Simpson of Minford, Ohio, his grandchildren, Mason T. Blevins, Kaley N. Harris, Tate D. (Gabriela) Evans, Jessa E. Evans, Trace D. Evans, and Ty D. Evans, and his great-grandchildren, Karleigh Lynn Castle and Samira “Sammi” Skye Evans. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his half-brother, Melvin Blakeman.

Ronnie was a retired member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 18 and was also a long time proprietor of the Grove in Piketon, Ohio. He enjoyed many adventures and stages in his life, ranging from farming, hot rods, Harley Davidsons, extensive traveling including excursions to Spain and Alaska, boating, and numerous others. He also found great joy spending his time playing cards. Ronnie loved his animals and pets to no end, but his greatest love was that for his family. He held his regard for his family and loved ones with extreme importance and he adored them beyond measure.

Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Friday May 23, 2025 at the Cox Burkitt Funeral Home in Beaver, Ohio with Pastor Dale Reed officiating. Burial will follow in the Mound Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held from 4-8:00 P.M. Thursday May 22, 2025 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Pike County Humane Society, Pike Pet Pals, or an animal charity or organization of your choice.
