Richard Lee Henson

Richard Lee Henson, 80, of Waverly, Ohio, passed away on Monday, March 8, 2021 at SOMC in Portsmouth, Ohio. Richard was born June 12, 1940 to the late Troy Henson Sr. and Virginia (King) Henson of Ligon, Kentucky. Richard was preceded in death by one brother, Troy Henson Jr. and survived by one brother, Darrell Henson of Columbus, Ohio and one sister, Joyce (Henson) King of Southern Shores, North Carolina. Richard is survived by his wife Betty (Akers) Henson of 60 years of marriage in which they celebrated together on Sunday March 7, 2021. Richard is survived by their two sons, their eldest son being David Lee Henson and wife Janie (Fetherolf) Henson of Grove City, Ohio. Along with three step-grandchildren- Joanna Lathem, Kathleen (Fetherolf) Welsh, Dalton Fetherolf and one grandchild, Madison Henson. Seven step-great-grandchildren-Daniel Imler, Jonathan David Imler, Jesse Imler of Joanna and Carson Welsh, Charlotte Welsh, Conner Welsh of Kathleen, and Olivia Fetherolf of Dalton. Their youngest son being Scotty Dale Henson and wife Esther (Spencer) Henson of Waverly, Ohio. Along with two grandchildren Jamey (Henson) Foster and Scotty Henson II. Along with three great-grandchildren-Brendan Foster, Kaylee Foster, and Aubree Foster of Jamey.

Richard loved spending time with his family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He also enjoyed being outdoors; hunting (wildlife, mushrooms, and ginseng), fishing and golfing. He was a member of the Mason Orient Lodge #321 of Waverly, Ohio for 27 years.

He was truly loved by all of his family and friends and he will be sorely missed, but we are sure Heaven’s celebration will be never ending.

Following Mr. Henson’s wishes, calling hours will not be observed. A celebration of life gathering will be announced at a later time.
