Raymond Lewis Bapst Jr.

Raymond Lewis Bapst Jr., age 80, of Groveport, Ohio, died Sunday November 30, 2025 at the O.S.U. Wexner Medical Center Hospice Care Center in Columbus, Ohio. He was born December 5, 1944 in Stockdale, Ohio, a son of the late Raymond Lewis Bapst Sr. and Eileen Florence Pollard Bapst. He was united in marriage August 31, 1967 to his wife, Charline Rozar Bapst, who survives. Also surviving are four children, Tammy (John) Campbell, Sarah (Sylvia Burch) Bapst, Andrew (Shana) Bapst, and Shannon Bapst-Schumacher, seven grandchildren, Angela Bapst-Campbell, Katherine Campbell, Erin Campbell, Alexzander Bapst, Lilliyana Bapst, Kiara Bapst-Lamp, and Saoirse Bapst, two sisters, Joyce (John) Wallach and Jeanie (Frank) Gawronski, a sister-in-law, Lanita Ware, and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Ariana Bapst-Taylor and a brother, Kenneth Bapst.

Raymond was a U.S. Army Veteran having served during Vietnam, his duties being a combat medic, where he received the Bronze Star Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster and the Gallantry Cross Medal with Silver Star. His greatest love was his family and time he shared with them. He also enjoyed spending time fishing and hunting.

Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Thursday December 4, 2025 at the Owl Creek Lighthouse Church located at 1442 Germany Rd., Lucasville, Ohio, with Pastor Lyndell Durr and Pastor Rodney Bapst officiating. Burial will follow in the Beaver Union Cemetery with military honors provided by the American Legion Merritt Post #142 of Waverly. Visiting time will be held from 12:00 P.M. until the time of service Thursday at the church. The family would like to invite everyone to return to the church after graveside services for fellowship. Masks are not mandatory but would be appreciated.
