Oscar R. Bachtel

  Oscar R. Bachtel, age 74, of Jackson, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly in his sleep Tuesday June 5, 2018. He was born October 14, 1943 in Logan, West Virginia to the late Clyde and Arizona Mullins Bachtel. Oscar graduated from Logan High School and moved to Jackson, Ohio in 1961. He married Stella M. Blackburn Bachtel in April of 1962. Oscar retired from the Kroger Co. as a meat cutter after 28 years. He was a member of the Bethel Ridge Church since May 2012. After retirement his time was spent farming and raising his beloved great-grandson, Alex, who was the joy of his life. He was a kind, giving person and a blessing to all that knew him. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Stella, two daughters, Sandra M. (Steve Durham) Taylor and Anna (Judson) Hull, both of Jackson, Ohio, five grandsons, James, Joseph, Billy, Hunter, and Brier, two great-grandchildren, Alex and Sophya, four sisters, Doris (Bob) Jones, Retha (Larry) Goodson, Julie (Charlie) Dome, all of Mansfield, Ohio and Sue Bachtel of Logan, West Virginia, one brother, Clyde (Eva) Bachtel Jr. of Wellston, Ohio and numerous nieces, nephews, and many friends. Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Friday June 8, 2018 at the Bethel Ridge Church with Bro. Joe Triplett and Bro. David Miller officiating. Burial will follow in the Salem Cemetery in Scioto Township, Jackson, Ohio. Friends may call from 5-8:00 P.M. Thursday June 7, 2018 at the Cox Burkitt Funeral Home in Beaver, Ohio and from 9:00 A.M until the time of service Friday at the church.
