Ora Eugene "Gene" Penwell

Ora Eugene Penwell “Gene,” born October 14, 1947, passed away at his home October 3, 2022 following an illness he just couldn’t fight off. Gene was preceded in death by both parents Russell and Clarabelle Penwell, a sister Laura Mae Jackson, and a brother-in-law Joe Bill Cross. He is survived by his wife Geraldine, his children Philip (Amanda) Penwell, Crystal (Chad) Moon, and Kimberly Carter, his grandchildren Arron Penwell, Brianna Purdin, Brandon Purdin, Dylon Needs and Natalie Carter, and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his siblings Roy (Caroline) Penwell, Randy (Lorretta) Penwell, Ricky (Penny) Penwell, David (Marsha) Penwell, Zorritta (Arnette) Knisley, Melody Cross, and Peggy (Roger) Tong.

Gene loved being outdoors fiddling with all types of motors and mechanics just to prove to everyone he could make them run again. You all know that saying “one man’s junk is another man’s treasure,” well that was Gene, he would take your junk and turn it into his treasure.

Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Saturday October 8, 2022 at the Fairview Church with Pastor John Huffman officiating. Visiting hours will be held from 12:00 P.M. until the time of service Saturday at the church. Cox Burkitt Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
