Melvin Schrader Obituary

  Melvin "Beanie" Schrader, age 87, of Beaver, Ohio, passed away at his home surrounded by his family on Friday November 2, 2018. He was born June 16, 1931 in Beaver, Ohio, a son of the late Alvin and Eliza Chandler Schrader. He was united in marriage on May 12, 1956 to his wife, Barbara Vickers Schrader, who survives. Also surviving are his children, Debbie Schrader of Beaver, Ohio, Pam (Tony) Smith of Beaver, Ohio, James (Michaela) Schrader of Waverly, Ohio, and Sandy (Mike) Evans of Beaver, Ohio, eleven grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, three brothers, Alvin "George" Schrader Jr. of Beaver, Ohio, Lewis Schrader of Beaver, Ohio, and Wayne Schrader of Beaver, Ohio, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters and four brothers. Melvin was a retired business owner, a retired school bus driver, a U.S. Air Force Veteran, having served during the Korean War, and was a charter member of the Beaver VFW Post #9942. His favorite hobby was growing a huge garden and passing out the vegetables to his family and friends. He will be greatly missed by his family and all who knew him. Calling hours will be 5-8:00 P.M. Monday November 5, 2018 at the Cox Burkitt Funeral Home in Beaver, Ohio. Private graveside services will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family in the Beaver Union Cemetery with Rev. Ronnie Hines officiating and military services conducted by the American Legion Merritt Post #142 of Waverly. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to SOMC Hospice, 2201 25th St., Portsmouth, Ohio 45662.
