Mary "ruth" Nickell

Mary "Ruth" Nickell, age 80, of Waverly, Ohio, died Thursday February 14, 2013 at the Southern Ohio Medical Center in Portsmouth, Ohio. She was born December 29, 1932 in Pike County, Ohio, a daughter of the late Lundy and Mary Dixon Risner. Mrs. Nickell was preceded in death by her husband, William Harold Nickell, who died May 12, 1999. Surviving are five sons, John (Melody) Nickell of Chillicothe, Ohio, James (Vickie) Nickell of Waverly, Ohio, Harold "Squeak" (Sherleena) Nickell of Beaver, Ohio, Randy Nickell of Beaver, Ohio and Tim Nickell of Piketon, Ohio, two daughters, Kathy (Mike) Burnside of Piketon, Ohio and Sandy (Phillip) Porter of Hillsboro, Ohio, fourteen grandchildren, Scott (Vicki) Burnside, Lisa (David) Carpenter, Marissa (Dustin) Jones, Gary (Susan) Veach, Jeremy Veach, Amy (Barry) Massie, Jaime (Michael) Whaley, Heather (Brandon) Greene, Bill (Niecie) Nickell, Rachel Nickell, Josh (Deidre) Nickell, Amber (David) Schmauch, Phillip (Lisabeth) Porter III and Nick Nickell, 22 great-grandchildren, a sister-in-law, Evelyn Risner of Jasper, Ohio, , and numerous nieces, nephews and very special friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, Jerry Nickell and Danny Nickell, one brother, Lundy "Bud" Risner, and five sisters, Alice Ferrell, Irene Thom, Kate Davis, Jean Nickell and Jenny Grooms. Mrs. Nickell was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Monday February 18, 2013 at the Cox Burkitt Funeral Home with Bro. Rex Higginbotham officiating. Burial will follow in the Beaver Chapel Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-7:00 P.M. Sunday February 17, 2013 at the funeral home.
