Lawrence William Staley

Lawrence William Staley, age 63, of Beaver, Ohio, died Friday July 25, 2025 at his residence. He was born August 10, 1961 in Huntington, West Virginia, a son of the late Henry Waymen “Jim” Staley and Fannie Minervia Preece Staley. Surviving are his children, Chad (Chasity) Staley of Piketon, Ohio, Courtney (Fiance` Robert Spencer) Swain of Beaver, Ohio, Cody Whitman of Beaver, Ohio, Travis Whitman of Beaver, Ohio, and C.J. (Angel) Swain of Beaver, Ohio, his grandchildren, Caiden Robinson, Carson Staley, Brylon Staley, Addysen  Staley, Carter Staley, Charlotte Swain, Emersyn Swain, Jack Swain, and Shyla Swain, one grandchild, Tilly Spencer on the way, brothers, Wayne Staley of Beaver, Ohio and Lonnie Washburn of Beaver, Ohio, sisters, Lasetta (Eric) Watters of Chillicothe, Ohio and Janetta (Richard) Hall of Panama City, Florida, and numerous nieces and nephews who were very important to him. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Elwood Staley and Dennis (Earlene) Staley.

Lawrence was a father figure to many children in their time of need over the years, and he was “Papaw” to many other children who came to know him. He graduated from Eastern High School in Beaver, Ohio and was employed as an over the road truck driver throughout his career.

Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Wednesday July 30, 2025 at the Cox Burkitt Funeral Home in Beaver, Ohio. Burial will follow in Mound Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held from 11:00 A.M. until the time of service Wednesday at the funeral home.
