John Tackett

John Tackett, age 77, of Waverly, Ohio, died Friday January 10, 2025 at his residence. He was born August 10, 1947 in Portsmouth, Ohio, a son of the late Tony Tackett and Rosie Mae (Salyers) Tackett. He was united in marriage August 21, 1969 to his wife, Rissie Meade Tackett, who survives. Also surviving are three sons, Brian E. (Stacey L.) Tackett of Lucasville, Ohio, Ryan “Matt” (Gina) Tackett of Southwebster, Ohio, and Johnny “Brett” Tackett of Jackson, Ohio, his grandchildren, Joshua T. Tackett, Teesha S. Seagraves, Samuel D. Tackett, Daisy M. Tackett, Kayden Tackett, Erica Tackett, Seth Tackett, Nathaniel Theobald, Hannah Brewer, and Hayley A. (Hunter) Sebring, numerous great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by infant twin daughters, Angela and April Tackett, an infant son, Joshua Shane Tackett, ten brothers and sisters, and a daughter-in-law, Peggy Tackett.

John was a wonderful provider and he loved his family and his country dearly. He was a U.S. Army Veteran having served during Vietnam. In his spare time, he could be found outdoors hunting and fishing.

Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Wednesday January 15, 2025 at the Cox Burkitt Funeral Home in Beaver, Ohio with Terry McBee officiating. Burial will follow in the Germany Cemetery with military graveside honors provided by the American Legion Merritt Post #142 of Waverly. Visiting hours will be held from 12:00 P.M. until the time of service Wednesday at the funeral home.
