Joey Boyd Howard, 66, of Beaver, Ohio, went home to be with the Lord on May 1, 2023 at the O.S.U. Ross Heart Hospital, Columbus, Ohio.
He was born at home on September 25, 1956 in Magoffin County, Kentucky to Ruben and Opal (Jenkins) Howard, who survive. Alongside his parents, he is survived by his wife of 39 years, Jennie (Salisbury) Howard, 3 daughters, Jessica (Preston) Dickerson, Chelsea (Johnny) Howard, and Casey (Andrew) Howard, 7 grandchildren, Preston, Parker, and Levan Dickerson, Scarlett Bryant, Joey Knauff, Hayden Slusher, and Amara Tuttle, 2 sisters, Darlene (Billy Jo) Isaac, and JoAnn (Jamie) Steffy, 2 sisters-in-law, Emma (Greg) Slone, and Tammy (Roy) Garrison, 2 brothers-in-law, Dean (Linda) Salisbury, and Ed (Belinda) Salisbury, as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by an infant brother, many aunts and uncles, and his Mother and Father-in-law, Betty and Dean Salisbury.
Joey worked as a carpenter and was an all-around handyman; he could build and repair anything. He loved to farm and enjoyed working in his garden, hunting, and delivering his seasoned firewood throughout the community. He never knew a stranger, and loved to visit with everyone. He always wore a smile that would brighten everyone’s day. He loved to joke and bring laughter wherever he would be. He deeply loved his friends and community.
Joey took the most pride in his family. He was the finest example of a dedicated and loving Husband, Dad, Papaw, Son, Brother, and Uncle. He was his children’s and grandchildren’s biggest fan, never missing a game or event. His life was a true testament of the impact of an amazingly dedicated and loving man. Remember Joey by sharing a smile with someone every day.
