James Tolliver Obituary

James Ernest Tolliver, 79, of Jackson, OH, passed peacefully on April 7, 2016 at his home. J.E. was born on March 4, 1937 to the late Ervin and Jane (Wright) Tolliver in Letcher County, KY. J.E. is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 59 years, Ima Sue (Hess) Tolliver of Jackson, Ohio. He is also survived by his children, daughter, Patricia Tolliver of Wellston, OH, sons, James "Lenny" Tolliver of Jackson, OH, Jeff (Amy) Tolliver of Guysville, OH and Jerome Tolliver of Zanesville, OH. He is preceded in death by his sons, Kenny R. Tolliver and Ivan L. Tolliver and brothers-in-law Irvin Potter and Owen Potter. He leaves behind 7 precious grandchildren, Brandon, Ethan, Kendra, Lindsay, Dustyn, Travis and Trent and 5 great-grandchildren that he loved so much. J.E. is also survived by his loving sisters, Janice Potter and Joyce "Vickie" Potter, both of Oak Hill, OH, along with several nephews and nieces and a host of family and friends. He will be greatly missed by so many. J.E. was a member of the Pleasantview Old Regular Baptist Church in Litchfield, OH. J.E. worked as a pipe fitter for 32 years at U.S. Steel in Lorain, OH where he retired in 1986 and relocated residence back to Jackson, OH. He dearly enjoyed spending time outdoors and was a lifelong avid hunter. He worked hard and always enjoyed gardening to provide for his family. Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Monday April 11, 2016 at the Tolliver residence, located at 3645 Whaleytown Rd., Jackson, Ohio 45640 with Bro. Chuck Keesee officiating. Burial will follow in the Tolliver Family Cemetery. Friends may call beginning at 4:00 P.M. and continuing throughout the evening Sunday April 10, 2016 at the Tolliver residence. In lieu of flowers, the family requests to honor Mr. Tolliver's favorite song, "Don't spend your money for flowers - Just one rose will do."
