James Cecil “Jug” Harris, age 78, passed away on September 6, 2024 at the Adena Regional Medical Center in Chillicothe, Ohio
James, better known to family by his childhood nicknames “Jug” and “Peaches” was born on July 10, 1946 to his late parents, father Walter Harris and mother Grace (Simmons) Harris. He was born the second oldest out of his seven siblings.
James was a Waverly High School graduate of the class of 65. After he graduated, he went to work at Tender Sweet in Waverly. He worked there for many years before going on to work at the MRDD school. James decided after a few years of working at the MRDD school, to retire so he could enjoy some of his hobbies. He loved sitting on a bank fishing, growing flowers and his peach tree that grew in his side yard.
James was preceded in death by his mother Grace (Simmons) Harris, father Walter Harris, one sister, Sarah Harris, and four brothers, Paul Harris Sr., Charles “Pedro” Harris, George Harris and Leonard Harris.
He is survived by one sister, Roberta Jeanette (Joseph) Oiler and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Wednesday September 11, 2024 at the Cox Burkitt Funeral Home in Beaver, Ohio. Burial will follow in the Carrs Run Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held from 11:00 A.M. until the time of service Wednesday at the funeral home.
