Jack Dean Southworth, age 75, of Lucasville, Ohio, died Saturday December 1, 2018 at the O.S.U. Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio. He was born September 1, 1943 in Portsmouth, Ohio, a son of the late Orville and Myrtle Rapp Southworth. He was united in marriage July 1, 1966 to his wife, Carol Ann Walls Southworth, who preceded him in death June 30, 2012. Surviving are one son, Luke (Tara) Southworth of Lucasville, Ohio, two grandchildren, Madison Paige Southworth and Dalton Evan Southworth, both of Lucasville, Ohio, one sister, Lucille Southworth Hannah of Lucasville, Ohio, two sisters-in-law, May Southworth of Waverly, Ohio and Pam (Richard) Walls Vallery of Piketon, Ohio, and numerous nieces, nephews, and close friends he made throughout the years. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Virgil Ray Southworth, Bob Southworth, and Orville Richard "Dick" Southworth, two sisters, Patsy Southworth Spencer and Dolly Southworth Noel, two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Southworth and Holly Walls Thacker and four brothers-in-law, Dee Hannah, Bill Spencer, David Noel, and Ronnie Thacker. Jack was a U.S. Army Veteran, attended the New Freedom Community Church, owned and operated Southworth and Son Construction for over 30 years, worked as a brick mason for AK Steel for 15 years, and was an avid bowler. He was a loving and faithful husband, father, and grandfather and he adored his grandchildren. Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Thursday December 6, 2018 at the Cox Burkitt Funeral Home in Beaver, Ohio with Pastor Tilson Greene and Pastor Kevin Greene officiating. Burial will follow in the Owl Creek Cemetery with military graveside services conducted by the American Legion Merritt Post #142 of Waverly. Friends may call from 4-8:00 P.M. Wednesday December 5, 2018 and from 12 noon until the time of service Thursday at the funeral home.
