Ima Sue (Hess) Tolliver

Ima Sue (Hess) Tolliver, 86, passed peacefully at her home on March 2, 2025 in Jackson, Ohio. Ima was born to Victor and Ressie (Layne) Hess on October 13, 1938 in Aflex, Kentucky. She married her first love, James Ernest Tolliver, on Octorber 14, 1957 who preceded her in death in 2016, being married 59 years. Ima is survived by her children Patricia (Evan), James L, and Jeff (Amy), preceded in death by sons Kenny, Jerome, and Ivan, surviving brothers include Doug (Brenda) Hess, Dale (Dorene) Hess, and Dereck Hess, sisters, Wuanita (Jack) Stiltner, Wilma (Buster) Anderson, Reda (Scotty) Chapman, Freda (Paul) Williams, preceded in death by siblings Ivilene Compton, Mae (Jose) Lopez, Dennis Hess, Donald (Linda) Hess, E.C. Hess, Nerva Jean, infant twins Homer and Barbara Hess, and David (Diane) Hess, surviving sister-in-law Joyce Potter, preceded in death by brother-in-law Irvin Potter, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Janice and Owen Potter, and infant sister-in-law Phyllis Ann Tolliver.

Ima was a devoted Grandmother to nine grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and awaiting birth to a great-grandchild in July 2025.

Ima leaves behind several nieces and nephews, a host of friends, all of these she loved and touched deeply.

She will be truly missed.

Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday March 8, 2025 at the Tolliver family residence, 3645 Whaleytown Rd., Jackson, Ohio 45640, with Bro. Chuck Keesee officiating. Burial will follow in the Tolliver Family Cemetery. Visiting hours will begin at 4:00 P.M. Friday March 7, 2025 at the Tolliver residence and continue throughout the evening until funeral services Saturday.

Ima’s son Jerome, who died March 18, 2024, will also be interred into rest in the family cemetery on Saturday.

The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff at the National Church Registry and their hospice care, Dr. Timothy Webb of the Holzer Clinic in Wellston, and Dr. Jonathan Hollister.
