Gary Lee Wheeler, 74, of Beaver, Ohio, son of the late Greenville and Roxie (Roark) Wheeler, went to be with the Lord February 10, 2022 at the Adena Regional Hospital in Chillicothe, Ohio. Gary was born on November 6, 1947 in Beaver, Ohio. Surviving is his wife of 50 years, Angela (Taylor) Wheeler, who he married March 14, 1971, one son, Pat (Michelle) Wheeler of Beaver, Ohio, his grandchildren, Wyatt (Jenny) Wheeler, Payton Wheeler and Bryton Wheeler, all of Beaver, Ohio, Kristen (Devin) Zavatsky of Waverly, Ohio, three great-grandchildren, Liam, Sayloor and Carter Lee of Beaver, Ohio, two sisters, Ardith (James) Henry of Waverly, Ohio and Kathy (Kenny) Bobst of Beaver, Ohio, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles and Donald Wheeler.
Gary graduated from Eastern High School in 1965. He went on to pursue his education at Ohio University in Athens, Ohio and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in education. He was employed at the Eastern Local School district for 30 years. He retired in 2000 from teaching. Gary enjoyed gardening, going to auctions with his son and his special friend Jerry, spending time with family and friends talking about the old days on the front porch, helping his wife and his sister with their wood crafts, but above all, he loved playing with Liam, Sayloor, and meeting Carter Lee and his weekly outings with his grandson, Wyatt. Gary was a member of Mary Chapel Church in Waverly, Ohio.
Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Tuesday February 15, 2022 at the Cox Burkitt Funeral Home in Beaver, Ohio with Bro. Arvil Murray Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the Beaver Union Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held from 4-8:00 P.M. Monday February 14, 2022 at the funeral home. Those planning to attend may wear masks at their own discretion.
