Esther Rapp Obituary
Esther Ruth Downey Rapp, age 82, of Beaver, Ohio, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday March 4, 2019. She was born July 20, 1936 in Jackson County, Ohio, a daughter of the late Isaac and Goldia Strickland Downey. She was united in marriage August 25, 1962 to her husband, Richard "Dick" Rapp, who preceded her in death June 13, 1997. Surviving are two children, Dean (Stephanie) Rapp of Beaver, Ohio and Deanette Rapp of Beaver, Ohio, three grandchildren, Jacob Rapp, Ashtyn (Kyle) Lester Grooms, and Andee Lester, a brother-in-law and sister-in-law Jerry and Judy Rapp of Beaver, Ohio, sister-in-law Alvie Rapp of Beaver, Ohio and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two infant children and a sister, Mary Downey Markee. Ruth graduated from Jackson High School in 1955, was employed as a school teacher and retired from the Eastern Local School System, attended the Beaver Chapel Church most of her life, and was a member of numerous civic organizations in the Beaver Community. Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Saturday March 9, 2019 at the Cox Burkitt Funeral Home in Beaver, Ohio with Pastor Ronnie Hines officiating. Burial will follow in the Beaver Union Cemetery. Friends may call from 5-8:00 P.M. Friday March 8, 2019 and on Saturday from 12 noon until the time of service at the funeral home.
