Elzie Culwell, age 71, of Beaver, Ohio, died Friday January 15, 2021 at his residence. He was born August 4, 1949 in Lawrence County, Kentucky, a son of the late William Riley Culwell and Erma Mae Fannin Culwell. He was united in marriage June 1, 1968 to his first wife, Gloria Jean Culwell, who preceded him in death June 24, 2013. He was united in marriage May 11, 2014 to his second wife, Pamela Sue Carman Culwell, who survives. Also surviving are five sons, Elzie (Jessie) Culwell Jr. of Florida, Dennis Allen (Claudia) Culwell of Raceland, Kentucky, Tracy Scott Culwell of Huntington, West Virginia, Timothy Martin (Jennifer) Culwell of Oak Hill, Ohio, and Eric Quinn (Kimberly) Culwell of Jackson, Ohio, one daughter, Beth (Kyle) Cleveland of Madisonville, Texas, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, one brother, Ronald Culwell of Mt. Sterling, Ohio, three sisters, Ruby (Dale) Bogenrife of Washington, C.H., Ohio, Opal Culwell of Arizona, and Okie Dreher of Bainbridge, Ohio, and nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and first wife, he was preceded in death by three brothers, James Culwell, Norman Culwell, and William Ray Culwell (infant).
Elzie was the current Pastor at the Paul's Chapel Church and had over 30 years of participation with the churches of the Bethlehem Association. He loved the Lord. Elzie was also a very devoted and loving husband and father.
Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Monday January 18, 2021 at the Paul'sl Chapel Church with Pastor James Richardson and Pastor Mike Wyatt officiating. Burial will follow in the Paul's Chapel Cemetery. Friends may call from 11:00 A.M. until the time of service Monday at the church. Cox Burkitt Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Following CDC recommendations and state mandated orders, the family requests masks be worn by those in attendance.
