Donald Lee Evans, age 77, walked away with the Lord on Good Friday, March 25, 2016 at Fairfield Medical Center in Lancaster, OH. He was born June 14, 1938 in Columbus, OH at the White Cross Hospital to Mary E. (Evans) McDowell. Donald is survived by two daughters, Donna (Venable) McNerlin (Matthew McNerlin, son in law) of Buckeye Lake, OH, and Lynn Evans of Dublin, OH. One son, David L. Evans of Hemphill, TX. He is also survived by two brothers, Paul McDowell of Beaver, OH and David McDowell of Jackson, OH. Several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. He is preceded in death by his two sisters, Rebecca Smith and Doris Davis. Donald had joined the Golden Gloves boxing at the age of 14 and became a very skilled boxer. He graduated High School and was a carpenter by trade for most of his adult life until he retired. He helped build homes in East Jackson, OH and in the Columbus areas. He had also been an apartment manager and super for many years in Columbus, OH. Donald was well traveled throughout the United States. His favorite past times were poker, checkers, and telling stories about all of his adventures in the long life he lived. He meant what he said, and said what he meant....always. Funeral Services for Donald Lee Evans will be held at Cox-Burkitt Funeral Home in Beaver, OH on Wednesday, March 30, 2016. Pastor Marvin Beculheimer will be officiating. Calling hours will be from 3p.m.-5p.m. and burial at Beaver Union Cemetery will follow directly afterwards.
