Delbert Ray Hines

Delbert Ray Hines, age 86, of Waverly, Ohio, died Wednesday September 7, 2022 at his residence. He was born July 10, 1936 in Pike County, Ohio, a son of the late Frank Charles Hines and Elizabeth Boggs. He was united in marriage in 1967 to his wife, Mary Lee Fuller Hines, who preceded him in death January 23, 2022. Surviving are two sons, Brett (Bobbi) Hines of Waverly, Ohio and Scott (Christina) Martin of Waverly, Ohio, five grandchildren, Brenon (Anna) Hines of Waverly, Ohio, Wyatt Hines of Waverly, Ohio, Levi Hines of Beaver, Ohio, Jade (Rob) Martin-Willis of Keene, New Hampshire, and Tyler Martin of Grundy, Virginia, one brother, Gary Hines of Findlay, Ohio, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Bruce “Gig” Hines, four brothers, Jim, Frank “Jr.”, Harold, and Vernon, and six sisters, Viola, Esther, Margaret, Ruth, Maxine, and Winnie.

Delbert was a U.S. Army Veteran where he served in the Infantry division and was a member of the regimental boxing team. He was a retired heavy equipment operator and a proud member of the IUOE Local 18 for over 50 years. Delbert also farmed all of his life and was a former Democratic Committeeman for Beaver Township. When he wasn’t working, he enjoyed spending his time watching a game or supporting his favorite teams. He was a huge fan of all sports.

Funeral services will be 3:00 P.M. Sunday September 11, 2022 at the Cox Burkitt Funeral Home in Beaver, Ohio with Pastor Henry Ward officiating. Burial will follow in the Beaver Union Cemetery with military honors conducted by the American Legion Merritt Post #142 of Waverly. Visiting hours will be held from 1:30 P.M. until the time of service Sunday at the funeral home.
