Danny Leon Hicks, age 78, of Waverly, Ohio, died Friday December 2, 2022 at his residence. He was born May 16, 1944 in Scioto County, Ohio, a son of the late Raymond Hicks and Gladys Keeton Hicks. He was united in marriage July 14, 1980 to his wife, Janet Marie Johnson Hicks, who survives. Also surviving are his children, Daniel Berton (Monica) Hicks of Waverly, Ohio, Della Hicks of Waverly, Ohio, Kell Hicks of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Lisa Filutz of Pennsylvania, two grandchildren, Denver Eugene Hicks II of Harrisville, West Virginia and Cynthia Hicks of Brocton, New York, one sister, Rose Jenkins of Waverly, Ohio, and a host of nieces and nephews, as well as many beloved family, friends, and neighbors. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Denver Eugene Hicks, two sisters, Eve Zimmerman and Barb Mount, and four brothers, Clarence Hicks, Vernon Hicks, Eugene Hicks, and Denver Hicks.
Danny was a U.S. Navy Veteran having served in Vietnam. During his military service, he was awarded the Artic Service Medal and the Defense Service Medal. He was a member of the Beaver VFW Post 9942 and a member of the American Legion Merritt Post 142 of Waverly. Danny loved spending time with his family and making people smile. He also had a fondness for mowing grass, picking clovers, playing Solitaire, tinkering with his vehicles and mowers, and playing guitar.
Graveside services will be 12:00 P.M. Saturday December 10, 2022 in the South Webster Cemetery with Pastor Danny Wooten officiating and military honors conducted by the American Legion Merritt Post 142 of Waverly. Visiting hours will be held from 9:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. Saturday December 10, 2022 at the Cox Burkitt Funeral Home in Beaver, Ohio.
