Cleo (Frederick) Givens Armstrong, 94, of Beaver, Ohio, died Sunday June 2, 2013 in Waverly, Ohio. She was born August 4, 1918 in Pike County, a daughter of the late Tom Frederick and Vira Ethel (Carter) Frederick. On July 25, 1955, Cleo was united in marriage to James Armstrong, who preceded her in death on April 21, 1979. The father of her children, Henry Givens, preceded her in death in 1999. Surviving is a son, John Frederick Givens (Karen Kay) of Findlay, Ohio, one daughter, Linda Sowards (Robert) of Beaver, Ohio, five grandchildren, Valerie Riley (Loren) and Lisa Neu (Dickie), both of Beaver, Ohio, John Carl Givens (Linda) of Westerville, Ohio, James Gregory Givens (Renee) of Findlay, Ohio and Jeffery Givens (Amy) of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. Also surviving are nine great-grandchildren, Jade D. Neu of Beaver, Ohio, Andrew and Kylie Givens of Findlay, Ohio, Jacob, Alex and William Givens of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, and Maria, Matthew, and Jenna Givens of Westerville, Ohio, two brothers, Thomas Frederick (Darlene) of Piketon, Ohio and Albert Frederick of Waverly, Ohio and five sisters, Theo Arnett (Orval) of Waverly, Ohio, Shirley Satava of Kirtland, Ohio, Laura Dowen and Anna Satava of Burton, Ohio and Marie Setty (Dale) of Piketon, Ohio. Her parents, six brothers, Rollo, Leo, Bob, Pete, Richard and Jack, two sisters, Reo Kinnison and Imo Miller preceded her in death. Cleo was a former cook at the old Union Twp. School and Beaver School. She was a baby-sitter for many children in the Beaver area. She loved living in Beaver among her family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday June 4, 2013 at the Cox Burkitt Funeral Home in Beaver with Rev. Ronnie Hines officiating. Burial will follow in the Beaver Union Cemetery, Beaver, Ohio. Friends may call at the funeral home from 12 noon until the time of service on Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Incare Hospice, 681 E. Third St., Waverly, Ohio 45690.
