Charlotte Elaine (Maynard) Blackburn
August 30, 1958-September 13, 2024
In the 66 years between her birth on August 30, 1958, and her passing on September
13, 2024, Charlotte, “Sissy Toot,” lived a life that was full, rich, and deeply impactful.
Though her time with us may seem short, the dash between those dates represents a
lifetime of love, laughter, and devotion to her family, friends, church, and community.
A faithful Christian and devoted member of Paul’s Chapel Church, Charlotte’s belief in
God guided her actions and gave her strength. She shared her faith through her kind
heart, helping hands, and genuine care for others. Those who knew Charlotte
remember her as someone who was always there—ready to offer comfort, a smile, or a
word of encouragement.
Her greatest joy and deepest devotion was her family, and she poured her heart into
making their lives as happy as possible. As a wife, mother, and grandmother, Charlotte
had a unique way of making each family member feel cherished. Her home was a
haven filled with warmth, love, and laughter. No matter the challenges life brought,
Charlotte faced them with grace, always focusing on the well-being of those she loved.
But her family was not the only ones to benefit from her generous spirit. Charlotte’s
community adored her, and she was known for her unwavering willingness to help
anyone in need. Whether you were a friend, neighbor, or someone she just met, you
could count on Charlotte to be there with a helping hand and a compassionate heart.
Charlotte spent her life pouring love into her family, especially her husband, Roy
Blackburn, Jr., her daughter, Amanda Blackburn Miller, and her grandchildren, Christian
Miller, Dessie Jane Miller, Andrea (Curtis) Deck, and great-grandchildren, Temperance
and Ezekiel Deck.
Charlotte took great pride in being part of the lives of her stepson Roy “Eddie”; and Betty
Blackburn, and their children, Hannah (Chris) Smith and grandchildren, Elaina June and
Carter Michael, and Josh (Paige) Blackburn; as well as stepdaughter Christy and James
Doxsee, and her children, Seth Tackett, Erica Tackett, and Zack Doxsee.
Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents, Otis and Lenora Maynard and her
mother and father-in-law, Roy and Odessa “Dessie” Blackburn.
Her siblings—Dianna and the late Charles Durham, the late Charles and Muriel
Maynard, Norman Maynard, Deby and the late Sam Immel, James and Tonia Maynard,
and the late Greg Maynard, as well as her sister-in-law, Stella Bachtel—shared an
indescribable bond of love. Charlotte had a special place in her heart for her nieces and
nephews, whom she adored.
Her life may have been 66 years, but within that dash, she left an indelible mark on all
who had the pleasure of knowing her. Charlotte leaves behind a legacy of love, faith,
and kindness that will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
A celebration of Charlotte’s life will take place at Paul’s Chapel Church, State Route
776, Jackson, Ohio. Viewing will begin at 11:00 am, with the funeral following at 1:00
pm Sunday September15, 2024—internment in the Paul’s Chapel Church Cemetery.
