Carter Ison

Carter Ison, age 60, of Waverly, Ohio, died Saturday August 17, 2013 at the SOMC Hospice Center in Portsmouth, Ohio. He was born April 7, 1953 in Sandy Hook, Kentucky, a son of the late Ishmel and Erma Barker Ison. Surviving are one daughter, Jammie McKown of Waverly, Ohio, one son, Timothy Ison of Zenia, Ohio, two grandchildren, LaTasha Collins and Levi Ison, one great-grandchild, Brianne Erwin, one brother, Ralph Ison of Dayton, Ohio, five sisters, Mabel Johnson, Audrey Manning, Ruby Erwin, Maxine Flemming and Merlene Reib, all of Dayton, Ohio, numerous aunts and uncles, and his high school sweet heart, Mabel Woods of Beaver, Ohio. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Janet Skeins. Mr. Ison was a U.S. Army Veteran, having served during the Vietnam Era. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Wednesday August 21, 2013 at the Cox Burkitt Funeral Home in Beaver, Ohio with Rev. Ronald Hines officiating. Burial will follow in the Beaver Union Cemetery with military graveside services conducted by the American Legion Merritt Post #142 of Waverly. Friends may call from 12 noon until the time of service Wednesday at the funeral home.
