Betty Salisbury Obituary

Betty Joan Salisbury 78, Germany Road Beaver, Ohio died September 24, 2013 at Southern Ohio Medical Center in Portsmouth, Ohio. She was born January 14, 1935 on Owl Creek Road in Pike County to George Edward Leist Sr. and Minnie Nevada Tomlison Leist. She married Carl Dean Salisbury Sr. November 27, 1953 in Richmond Indiana. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and a great grandson. She is survived by two sons, Carl Dean Salisbury Jr. (Linda) of Beaver, Ohio, Dial Edward Salisbury (Belinda) Givens, Ohio and three daughters Emma Ruth Slone (Greg) of Beaver, Ohio, Jennie Lynn Howard (Joey) of Beaver, Ohio, and Tammy Joan Garrison (Roy) of Beaver, Ohio, one brother, George Edward Leist Jr. of Beaver, Ohio and one sister, Ramona Ann Stollings (Curt) of Beaver, Ohio. She was blessed with 18 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren of whom she was so proud. Betty was owner operator of Salisbury Farms, Germany Road, Beaver, she sold Avon for over 50 years, and was a long time member of the Pike County Board of Elections. Betty had a passion for politics where she spent over 60 years of service to the Republican Party at the grass roots level. It excited her to see someone she helped get elected. She also had a passion for her farm. The farm had been in her family (Slavens) since the land grant days and she sacrificed of herself to keep it going throughout her life. She also had a great love for her children and grandchildren who will miss her more than words can say. Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 28, 2013, at 1:00 pm at the New Beginnings Church located on Adams Rd., Beaver, Ohio. Visitation will be Friday, September 27, 2013 from 4-8pm at the Cox Burkitt Funeral Home in Beaver.
