Alva Rexwell "Rex" Sagraves, age 83, of Logan, Ohio, formerly of Beaver, Ohio, died Saturday August 6, 2016 at the VA Medical Center in Dayton, Ohio. He was born January 24, 1933 in Blaine, Kentucky, a son of the late Brice Troy and Mabel Wheeler Sagraves. Mr. Sagraves was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Eblin Sagraves on September 19, 2003. Surviving are two sons, Jeff (Diana) Sagraves of Waverly, Ohio and Doug (Lesia) Sagraves of Chillicothe, Ohio, six grandchildren, Keri (Charles) Dodds, Cassie Sagraves, Matthew (Marisa) Sagraves, Brandon Sagraves, Nathan Sagraves and Tia Westenbarger, and three great-grandchildren, Charles Jeffrey Dodds, Carmaleita McCann and Cohen Sagraves. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Leita Callender and his brothers, Dorse Sagraves and infant brother Howard Sagraves Rex was a U.S. Army Veteran, serving during the Korean War where he fought in the Battle of Pork Chop Hill, to which he received the Combat Infantry Badge and his unit received the Presidential Unit Citation. He was also a life-long and founding member of the Beaver VFW Post #9942. Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Thursday August 11, 2016 at the Cox Burkitt Funeral Home in Beaver, Ohio with Kevin Littler officiating. Burial will follow in the Beaver Union Cemetery with military graveside services conducted by the American Legion Merritt Post #142 of Waverly. Friends may call from 5-8:00 P.M. Wednesday August 10, 2016 at the funeral home. Following the services at the cemetery, a dinner will be provided at the Waverly Church of Christ located on David Rd. in Waverly.
